Outdoor and specialty wiring for Yakima Valley properties
Outdoor lighting, pool and hot tub circuits, electric gate power and underground runs, built for valley weather and the GFCI rules that water demands.
Chapter 01
Water, weather and the ground-fault rule
Anything wired outside the house lives in a harder world than a bedroom outlet. Rain, irrigation overspray, a hard January freeze and a July afternoon that bakes a plastic junction box all land on the same connection, and the Yakima Valley hands out every one of them in a single year. Castle Pump & Electric wires outdoor work for that whole range, and the job starts by deciding what the water is allowed to touch.
GFCI protection is the first answer. A ground-fault circuit interrupter compares the current leaving on the hot wire with the current coming back on the neutral. If a small amount goes missing, because it is finding its way to ground through wet soil or through a person, the device opens the circuit in a fraction of a second. That is why a hot tub, a pool light or a patio receptacle gets one, and why a tripped GFCI should be treated as information rather than an annoyance.
Grounding and bonding do the quieter half of the work. They give stray current a planned path and keep every metal part near water, like a tub frame, a fence post or a gate operator housing, at the same voltage as the ground around it. Castle holds an active Washington L&I electrical contractor license, CASTLPE842NN, so the person tying those connections together at your place is working under a license that can be looked up by anyone.

What the crew wires outside
Outdoor lighting is where most of these jobs begin. A black coach lamp on a brick pillar in a front garden is a small piece of work, but it needs a weather-rated fixture, a sealed connection and a cable that was meant to be outdoors, or the lamp is the first thing to fail when the ground thaws. The same care goes into path lights, garden lights and the lights that wash a facade after dark.
Pool wiring, hot tub wiring and electric gate wiring are the other three pillars of this page, and each has its own page below because each has its own rules. A hot tub needs a dedicated circuit, a disconnect, GFCI protection, grounding and bonding. A pool adds the lighting and the pump circuits. A gate operator is only as dependable as the power reaching it across a long driveway, where voltage drop and an unprotected splice are the usual culprits.
Underground runs tie it together. When power has to reach a detached shop, a gate, a pump house or a patio across open ground, the crew trenches, lays conduit and brings the circuit up where the load sits. Castle serves residential, commercial and agricultural customers, so the same method works for a backyard in Yakima and for a pasture gate out toward Wapato or Zillah.
Chapter 03
Pick the page that matches the job
Five of these jobs have a dedicated page: pool lighting and pool electrical, hot tub wiring, landscape lighting, outdoor kitchen and patio wiring, and electric gate wiring. They are linked at the bottom of this page. If your project is a mix, an outdoor room with lights, a tub and a gated drive for example, start here and Rob Weaver's crew will sort it into one plan instead of three separate visits.
Capacity is the question that comes before every one of them. A hot tub, a Level 2 charger and a gate operator all pull from the same panel, so the crew looks at the panel first. If it is full or old, an upgrade usually runs $1,500 to $4,000 depending on amperage, panel location and permit requirements, with the Yakima County permit handled for you. Better to hear that before the trench is dug than after.
Estimates are free, and most electrical repairs start at a $95 hourly rate. The shop is open around the clock, so call (509) 580-0470 when the lights outside have gone dark, or send a few lines about the job and a crew member will call you back. Alex and Omar are the electricians customers name most often, and both have been described as quick to diagnose and kind about it.
