Well pump repair and flow tests in Yakima
No water, sputtering taps, a pump that won't shut off. Most pump repairs are finished the same day, and flow tests show what the well can really deliver.
Chapter 01
The call that comes in on a Saturday afternoon
Well pumps rarely fail at a convenient time. The usual calls are no water at all, taps that sputter, a pump that clicks on and off every few seconds, or a breaker that trips the moment the pump tries to start. Both of Castle's Google listings show the shop open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so the call gets answered whether it comes at noon or at midnight.
Joseph Campbell wrote that his “well pump stopped working on a Saturday afternoon,” that they had someone at his house within two hours of the call, and that water was running again within an hour. Charley Schimmels lost all the water in her late mother's house while clearing it out with her siblings, and Rob dispatched Joel within a couple of hours. The water system was repaired that day.
The number to call is (509) 580-0470, or the Tieton pump line at (509) 517-6480. Say what the well is doing and where in the Yakima Valley the house sits, and Rob's crew will take it from there.

Diagnose first, then replace the part that failed
Most pump repairs can be completed the same day, depending on the issue and parts availability. The reason that is possible is the order of the work. Before anything comes out of the ground, the crew works out whether the problem is the pump, the pressure switch, the tank or the wiring, because each one produces a similar symptom and each one costs a different amount to fix.
A pressure switch with burned contacts can keep a healthy pump from starting. A waterlogged tank makes the pump short cycle, which wears out a good motor. A tripped breaker or a bad connection in the pump house can mimic a dead pump. Castle holds an active electrical contractor license, CASTLPE842NN, so the circuit gets tested properly instead of being waved at.
When the pump itself has failed, the hoist truck pulls it and a replacement goes in. Jeff Hemp called Joel when his water quit, and wrote that Joel was at the house within a few hours, told him everything he was doing, and replaced the pump. When a part is not on the truck, Rob will go and get it: Jose Sanchez wrote that Rob personally went to get the part and delivered it to his well.
Chapter 03
Flow tests and preventative maintenance for Yakima wells
A flow test measures what the well can actually deliver, in gallons over time, and what the pressure does while the water is running. It tells you whether the pump is keeping up, whether the well is giving less than it used to, and whether the pump you have is the right size for the demand you now put on it.
Three moments are worth scheduling one. The first is before a home sale, when a buyer or lender wants proof that the water works. The second is when you add irrigation, a shop or a second house and the well has to carry more than it did. The third is when the pressure has been slowly falling and nobody can say why.
Castle also offers preventative maintenance programs, so a pump gets looked at before it fails on a holiday weekend. Call the Tieton pump line at (509) 517-6480 to ask what a program would cover for your well, and ask about testing the water on the same visit.
